Putney Saturday School

Our Saturday School classes cover a range of performing arts curriculum that is design to encourage our ethos of developing well rounded, happy and creative young people with lots of confidence and excellent communication skills. 
 
Teachers
 
Our classes are taught by highly experienced and qualified teachers with degrees from leading Drama Schools and Universities. 

They are trained in Safeguarding and hold clean Enhanced DBS certificates.

Group Classes
 
Students are taught in groups building collaboration and communication skills that are especially important post-lockdown. They are encouraged to be supportive, caring and sociable which also builds their confidence. 

The groups are small enough to provide each student with individual attention and support during the lesson and larger classes always have a Teaching Assistant present.  

Speech, Drama & Acting

Our lessons in Speech, Drama and Acting encourage our students to become articulate young people who are able to express themselves eloquently and feel confident enough to stand up and perform in front of others. They often present, read poetry, prose, scripts are taught to publicly speak with confidence. 

Musical Theatre 

The Musical Theatre classes are fun and creative incorporating Singing, Acting and Dance. Students learn songs, routines and scenes from well known west end and broadway musicals. There are opportunities for them to perform as a group and choose to do solos working on their technique while having lots of fun and staying fit!

LAMDA Examinations

LAMDA lessons are taught in Poetry & Prose, Acting and Musical Theatre depending on the individual students' goals and they have the opportunity to sit a LAMDA examination every year. LAMDA qualifications lead to valuable UCAS points needed to gain entry t university and support our ethos of encouraging confidence, creativity and communication skills. LAMDA students have gone on to study at Drama  school and gain entry to leading universities in various fields outside of performing arts including Law and Medicine.

Location

Our classes are taught in the beautiful Lancaster Hall at St. Mary's Church located centrally on Putney High Street. 

The venue is well located close to Putney rail station, East Putney and Putney Bridge tube stations and lots of bus routes. 

Parents can enjoy the use of Putney Pantry cafe downstairs if they wish to wait for their children that serves a range of refreshments and food.

Individuality

Classes are tailored to value individuality  and support every students' strengths, goals and experiences. Every child is supported and challenged in equal measure and feel valued and encouraged to flourish.

They are provided with repertoire that is age and ability appropriate and have autonomy to decide on their exam pieces with the help of their teacher. 

Performances

Every student will have the opportunity to perform in a production
